Qualification

For some time now schoolswork.co.uk has been pursuing the possibility of a set of standards and qualifications for those who visit schools on behalf of churches or Christian organisations.

We’re especially concerned to make sure that Christian work in schools does not become limited in the coming years in the context of the growing need for qualifications for all those working with children and young people.

Thousands of Christians offer work in primary and secondary schools, colleges and other educational institutions every week. Their input makes a practical and spiritual difference to hundreds of thousands of children and young people.

Our aim is to help create a training course and qualification that would be recognised in every school in the UK (England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland). The working title for this qualification is Schools (Voluntary Support) Worker.

Funding has been secured to help with this development, and negotiations with the appropriate government bodies are well underway. Although we have been encouraged with developments to date, the process is complex and we are well aware that it will take considerable time, effort (and prayer!) to achieve our aim.

This page will keep you updated with news and developments of this exciting journey.
