Graduate Intern Programme

A one-year full time internship on the schoolswork.co.uk team based in Bedfordshire.

How can I get a wider experience of Christian work in schools?
How can I develop my speaking, writing and presentation skills?
How can I learn more about the strategy and theology of schools work?

We’re really excited to announce the launch of our first ever Graduate Intern Programme this September.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain the skills and experience needed for leading and doing Christian schools work. You’ll work alongside the Director of schoolswork.co.uk in the development and have the chance to:

- Write and develop resources for lessons and assemblies alongside activities for wider school use, testing them with local schools and seeing them published on the schoolswork.co.uk website and in Youthwork Magazine.

- Join the creative team for new schoolswork.co.uk resources that follow the release of the schoolswork.co.uk playing cards and Artcards, developing new material and helping oversee its design and production.

- Travel around the UK visiting and meeting different projects, participating in conferences and events and helping to promote Christian schools work.  Not only will you get opportunities to network and observe, but to have experience in delivering and developing effective presentations.

- Be part of a wider team based here in Bedfordshire where schoolswork.co.uk is based with a local schools team and other national projects like selfharm.co.uk. You’ll be part of the staff training programme and participate in our retreats and other community events.

Who are you looking for?

The Graduate Intern Programme is open to those over 21 who have completed an undergraduate degree. First and foremost, you’ll need a passion and interest in working in schools as a Christian, looking to develop your abilities and experience in this area. You’ll need to have good people skills and be able to communicate well using the written word. You’ll also need to be a good team player and willing to get involved in everything from helping to present at a conference to mailing out website orders. If you don’t have an undergraduate degree, but feel you have the necessary skills, then you can still talk to us about making an application.

What are the practicalities?

schoolswork.co.uk will provide your accommodation and pay weekly living expenses, as well as covering all your work-related costs, including travel. You’ll have a MacBook Pro to use and a desk in the schoolswork.co.uk office.

It will also entitle you to a free place on the brand new schoolswork.co.uk qualification. This course, which you can read more about here, will lead you to achieving a Level 3 qualification in Schools (voluntary support) work, delivered in partnership with the Centre for Youth Ministry.

How do I apply?

Start by emailing the schoolswork.co.uk Project Director, Amy Stock, to introduce yourself and express your interest. There will be a formal application process to follow, which will include a chance for you to visit the project during an insight day and see what it’s like firsthand.
