These were just a few of the great comments we received after last year's event. At the start of a new term, let alone a new school year, those of us working in schools at whatever level, however often, can be helped by meeting up with others and reconnecting with the excitement and opportunity that comes from working with children and young people in a school setting. Last year we had such a great time doing this, sharing stories, being inspired by experts and discovering new resources, that Imagine is back for a new year!
Bookings are open and we encourage you to book as soon as possible in order to ensure your place. How about those you work with or alongside? We have programmed this year's event just before the start of term to enable as many as those who work in schools to be there as possible. Whether you are a teacher, member of the support staff, youth worker, schools worker, play another role at some level in education or are simply interested in starting work in schools, you are very welcome to join us.
This year we're really excited to have the Lacey Theatre Company with us, who will be performing as well as sharing their great resources for schools. We have taken up the popular activity of assemblies as a focus for part of the day this year. Assemblies are taken by thousands of Christians each year across the UK, and we thought this is a chance for us to reimagine the great art of the assembly and to look into the different skills needed to 'perform' at our best. Along with Andy Kind (comedian), Chris Curtis and Lat Blaylock, we'll go deeper and dream bigger for the potential of ten minutes at the start of a school day. Ten minutes to change the world? Quite possibly.
There'll be plenty of opportunity to chat, network and connect with other visitors to the event (see note below about Thursday 1st Sept), with breaks, lunch and an exhibition area for you to pick up free goodies and discounted schoolswork.co.uk playing cards. The day will be relevant for all those working in schools, whether that's primary, secondary or 16-19s.
Jill Rowe from Oasis will be leading us in the afternoon through a time to envision and inspire us as we begin our journey in imagining that all God is going to do in and through us throughout the year. We'll have time to connect with each other, pray together and be commissioned into the new year. The day costs just £20, including lunch, and there will be more details to emerge very soon. For now I'll let you get on with securing your place!
p.s. Oh, and here's the bit about the night before...on Thursday 1st September there is a fantastic deal at the Premier Inn two minutes away (£29 per night*). Make the most of connecting with others over a great meal on Thursday, then give yourself a bit of a lie in on the Friday as well as doing away with the M25 traffic...why wait!
*Please visit the Premier Inn site to book your place. Subject to availability.
