We have just had our Easter Week and have been very encouraged!!! Not just because of what happened here but because of other events happening over these next 4 weeks of term. Altrinchan to Woodley: Gravesend to Glasgow - 30 locations putting on presentations IN CHURCH for local schools. It’s been the most SIGNIFICANT thing I’ve been involved with as a schools worker.
Here’s some feedback from pupils and staff:
Staff:
Great team work, very entertaining and overall great & super with the kids. Excellent experience and fantastic presentation. Always enjoy coming”
“ I always enjoy bringing the year 6 here, as the whole atmosphere is informative, rather than evangelical. The dramatic music in the rap was highly effective, as was the use of clips from the film, particularly when telling the resurrection part”
“ a good fun session again thanks”
“ Thank you once again for providing us with a first rate presentation. Your time and efforts are very much appreciated”
“ a wonderful way to spend my afternoon off. Thank you. I will let my year 6 colleagues know how enjoyable it was – hopefully we will be here next year”
Pupils:
“It was a fantastic visit to the church”
“ I think it was fun and I had learnt a bit more about the Easter story”
“ I would love to do it again”
“ I learnt about what easter means”
I first was involved with this in 1995 and in the last 14 years we have been just so pleased with this particular church - school link. If you are interested then have a look at www.sloughbaptistchurch.org.uk/schoolsweek and if you wanted to go and visit something happening in the next few weeks then see the Scripture Union seasonal events website http://www.scriptureunion.org.uk/62365.id and I’m sure if you contact any given area and it’s appropriate you can see one in action.
This week again we’ve had a number of visitors come and one said how keen she would be to have something similar in her church for her local school(s).

Finally the Evangelical Alliance have some very useful facts and figures for the coming weeks that may be useful see http://www.eauk.org/resources/info/statistics/easter-facts-2009.cfm
Best wishes and have a GREAT Easter (when it comes) as we remember and celebrate the GREATEST EVENT IN HISTORY!!!
