schoolswork.co.ukresources, inspiration, training for Christian schools workers
I’m currently looking at the use of self esteem material in and through the PSHE syllabuses at Key Stage 3, does anyone have any recommended resources that they have found particularly useful in this area?

Hi Jon
Great book by Henderson & Hancock I read a few years back called ‘Sorted’. Brilliant..honest..great material covering numerous subjects including self-esteem, image and the like. I can recommend it for use in PSHE. Plus we (Scripture Union) have a book called ‘Under Pressure’ by Pedrick & Morgan ..looking at doubt, body stuff and much more. http://www.scriptureunion.org.uk\shop Another great book but not sure if it’s still available or who it’s by? Steve?? ‘Who do you think you are?’
Best wishes

There’s a bunch of resources at http://www.cln.org/themes/self_esteem.html, some of which might be useful in a UK setting.
I think the real challenge in this area for Christians delivering this topic is how/if you talk about a Christian view. On the one hand, self esteem is inextricably linked to being made and loved by God for us as Christians. On the other hand, being asked to teach PHSE in a pluralistic multi-cultural secular state system (!!) means there isn’t necessarily an invitation to do so. How on earth do we walk that line?
