Trying to keep assemblies up to date and fresh is a challenge for us all im sure, and after watching the Brits last night I thought it might be fun to do something based on the life time achievemet award…..
I thought what a great idea to look back over someone’s life and see what they have achieved and perhaps a healthy topic for young people to be thinking about. But ..... that is where my inspiration ends .... Has anyone ever done anything like this before, or do you have any ideas?
All help would be greatfully recieved!
Thanks x
Hi Beth,
I’ve not done anything like this before, but it sounds a bit like a ‘This is your life’ type thing. If you had the facilities you could put info up on a screen & could even try acting it out like a sketch. Where YP play the person you’re celebrating & some play their friends & family. Practically you could ask teachers to pick students to play the different roles & give them the bits they need to say written down. Not sure how this would all work practically, that’s for you to figure out. LOL. I guess the obvious people are Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, footballers, popstarts etc..
Hope this has got you thinking anyway, let me know if you ever do an assembly along these lines, would be interesting to hear what you do.
Hi Beth - not really the same, but kinda linked is an event that I was involved in organising.
Called the ‘Toscars’ (not my choice of name!) and basically a teachers Oscars event, pupils were given ballet papers to fill out for 15 categories (ranging from most inspirational to teacher most likely to take over the world) An award ceremony took place at lunchtime with guest presenters and various other bits (year 11 music group) all made for an amazing event that everyone loved.
Again not sure if thats helpful - you just jogged the memory!
