Hi All,
One of the schools I’m working in has recently sent letters to parents asking if they would like their children to be be involved in collective worship in school. At the moment I’m trying to gather some ideas of what your experiences have been of collective worship in school, in particular a non-religious school.
So please could you tell me some ideas that have worked? What hasn’t worked? Let me know your experiences so that I can build up some great ideas to take into school next year.
Thanks
Are we talking primary or secondary? I’m based in a secondary school, non religious. They have given me the responsibility for the daily act of collective worship. They cannot logistically have an assembly each day. I produce a thought for the week, then some discussion starters, and activities , and on this day facts. The idea is that the form tutors use them in form time, and it is referred to in their weekly assembly. It works with some groups, not all take part! The notes I produce tick an ofsted box! The damaris website, secondary assemblies, is fab for resources, but is an annual subscription.
In primary schools, I tend to follow a similar pattern: game, story, talk, quiet time or prayer.
Hope that helps in some way.
Best wishes,
Andrea
